Bombshells Making a Big Impact

With only a couple days left in 2011, Shelby Christie, a budding star and entrepreneur in Charlotte, NC, made sure that she ended the year off with a bang hosting her very first Bombshells in the Business event. Christie, a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and intern for W Magazine, started the event as a way to give back to her community and provide a platform for other young women who are business-minded to receive helpful advice and guidance towards their chosen careers.

I used to feel like I was the only one who didn’t know what exactly I wanted to do.” Christie says as she reflects on why she started Bombshells in the Business. “I have been afforded many opportunities and I feel that it is my duty to give back to other young woman who might not have individuals mentoring or guiding them towards success.

Hosted at the local Amelie’s Bakery, a very fashionable Christie presented to the packed house of listeners a panel of five local influential women who each have experienced the triumphs and disappointments within their own professional careers. Each speaker was able to offer their own expertise, advice, and personal standpoints on how they came to success in their fields and how other young women, and men, can do the same.

Playlist of the Week

Thanksgiving is near and for a lot of students, that means we’re that much closer to a BREAK. A word that’s unfortunately, not applicable in many of our lives.

The Beauty of Blemishes

We’re all aware that perfection is only an ideal concept that we strive to achieve. However, no one being is truly “perfect” in everything they do. As we examine ourselves, we acknowledge our flaws that hold this matter true. Not that who we are doesn’t make us beautiful and unique. Yet, there is an idea that has recently occurred to me; instead of just accepting our blemishes, how about we work on them?

Recently, a close friend of mine aroused me with a realization I probably would’ve never admitted to myself.

Many of us have recently figured that out the hard way. A wave of spam has attacked many profiles on the popular networking site. Many of us have been subjected to explicit and inappropriate pictures of many celebrities and extreme violence.
